Saxifraga urbium

London pride is a quietly beautiful evergreen ground cover forming dense, spreading rosettes of rounded, leathery leaves from which slender airy stems rise in late spring, carrying sprays of delicate star-shaped pink flowers with deeper spotting. Remarkably tolerant of shade and urban neglect, it remains a classic choice for underplanting shady town gardens and woodland edges.
