Meadowsweet

Filipendula ulmaria

A native of wet meadows and streamsides, Meadowsweet bears frothy clusters of sweetly scented cream flowers above handsome pinnate leaves in midsummer. It thrives at the water's edge or in a bog garden where its exuberant, cottage-style presence softens more structured planting.
