Joe-Pye Weed
Eutrochium purpureum
Rising to well over two metres on purple-flushed stems, Joe-Pye weed delivers clouds of dusty mauve-pink flowers in late summer precisely when the border needs fresh momentum, and the flat-topped flowerheads remain attractive as they dry into autumn. Its scale and informality suit naturalistic planting schemes, where it will reliably draw butterflies and bees.
