Lady Fern
Athyrium filix-femina
One of the most elegant and accommodating of all native ferns, producing gracefully arching, finely divided fronds in a luminous, fresh green that illuminates the shadiest corners of a garden. It dies back completely in winter but re-emerges reliably each spring, thriving in the moist, humus-rich conditions of a woodland floor or a shaded border.
