California Poppy

Eschscholzia californica

A sun-lover of irresistible ease, the California poppy produces silken, cup-shaped flowers in blazing shades of orange, gold, and cream above a feathery carpet of glaucous blue-green foliage. It self-seeds prolifically in poor, sharply drained soils, naturalising joyfully through gravel gardens and sunny border edges.
