Red Valerian

Centranthus ruber

A self-seeding perennial that colonises dry walls, gravel, and poor soils with effortless grace, producing dense clusters of tiny star-shaped flowers from late spring well into autumn. Its coral-red, pink, or white blooms are irresistible to butterflies and long-tongued bees, and it has an invaluable ability to thrive where little else will grow.
